Sports Development

Benfield Sports College has a tremendously talented team of dedicated Sports professionals who excel in their many tasks. Sport development at Benfield does not solely cover curriculum teaching and out of school clubs and activities. We use sport to achieve our targets in a wide and varied manner, our role as a Sports College includes running programmes for other local Schools, supporting the School Sport Co-ordinator Partnership Programme, running a programme for talented pupils, offering specialist coaching to sports leaders, running after school clubs, running courses for children during school holidays and organising and delivering coaching courses to young people and adults.

We have gained a number of awards for our innovative approach to sports development and have recently won a Youth Sport Trust award for innovative development of talented athletes for our nationally renowned BEST programme. Sports Leaders UK have recently re-awarded us their Gold Star status for our continued excellence in the development of sports leaders both in and out of the school curriculum but also working within the local community. Badminton England have also awarded us Premier School Status due to our long and successful development of their sport at Benfield, in which we have for the last two years qualified for the finals of the English Schools Badminton Competition.

Our work in the wider community is currently undergoing a period of reflection and change as we seek to address issues which can make a real difference to people within our local community. Details of these changes will be found on this site in the near future.
